Mothers-in-Law Who Took “In-Law Drama” to New Heights

Story:

My husband and I had been accumulating money to go on a trip. His mother was weeping about how much debt she had, so we postponed it to aid her. Days later, she presented me a large porcelain cat. I mumbled, “Must have cost a fortune.”

She rubbed my back and continued, “Well, my son had confessed to me that he didn’t really want to go on that trip!”

I was speechless. Later in the night, I approached my spouse. He froze in disbelief, swearing that he was as excited about the trip as I was, and that his mother had a habit of making up stories and speaking for him.

That day, I learned to keep my distance from her, because her lies could end up destroying my relationship.
